From January to 11 June 2014, Guinea has recorded a total of 389 suspected cases of Ebola virus disease with 241 deaths -- a case fatality rate of 63%. Ebola confirmed cases and deaths have risen to 244 and 138, respectively.

Since May 31st we have seen a 19% increase in cumulative cases (suspected and confirmed).

UNICEF and our partners have sensitized 3,114,392 people in the affected areas in Guinea and is continuing the campaign.

48 children under 15 are among the suspected cases;

UNICEF has procured and/or distributed 1,143,450 bars of soaps, 483,600 bottles of chlorine, 260 megaphones and 510 sprayers.

UNICEF has received a total of US$ $1,579,038 (US$ 523,602 from Japan Government, US$ 200,000 form OFDA/USAID, US$ 100,000 from Japan Natcom, $250,000 from GAC and US$ 505,436 from CERF)

Many children have lost one or two of their parents to the Ebola Virus Disease. UNICEF has undertaken a mapping to identify these children and has been providing assistance to some of them in collaboration with WFP and the Government.
