Operational Updates

• In the framework of malnutrition prevention activities, 4,362 individuals participated in capacity-strengthening sessions across the departments of Huehuetenango, Quiché, Alta Verapaz and Izabal. Of these, 86% were engaged through multiyear Integrated Resilience Programmes, while 14% were reached under School Feeding interventions.

• Complementing these efforts, a total of 3,166 individuals received nutritional monitoring and counselling through five WFP-supported Nutrition Brigades operating in the departments of Huehuetenango and Alta Verapaz. Women and girls accounted for 67% of all beneficiaries across nutrition-specific activities, underscoring the programme’s gender-responsive approach to improving dietary practices and maternal-child health outcomes.

• In parallel, as part of resilient livelihood activities, 2,634 individuals (98% of whom were women) took part in capacity-strengthening sessions on sustainable agricultural production in Huehuetenango and Quiché. These activities aimed to strengthen food security and nutrition at the household level while promoting the active participation of rural communities in climate-smart agriculture and local value chains.

• Of the total caseload, 1,595 individuals participated in more than one activity, reflecting cross-programme engagement and integrated support across nutrition, school feeding and resilient livelihoods interventions.
