Guatemala (Update)

On 10 July 2024, the Guatemala National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED per its acronym in Spanish) informed that on 9 July 2024, a total of 16 departments were affected by the heavy rains. According to the information, in 24 hours (9 July), a total of 173,746 people were affected. During the rainy season in the country, there have been 1,249 severe rain incidents reported nationally (78 increase since the 9 July report). According to the report, 6,937 people were directly impacted (163 increase), 17,119 people were evacuated (233 increase), and there were 17 deaths (2 increase). In addition, 338 homes were severely damaged (4 increase) and 5,918 homes were moderately damaged (130 increase). The report is available from: CONRED 1 and CONRED 2
