On 6 December 2018, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) reported that El Fuego Volcano generated moderate explosions, with ash columns at 5,000 meters above sea level dispersing 20-25 kilometers towards the west and south-west. Ash falls were registered in the following Municipalities: Panimache 1 and 2, El Porvenir, Morelia, Santa Sofía, Sangre de Cristo, Finca Palo Verde, and San Pedro Yepocapa. In addition, there is a possibility of ash falls in other areas depending on the directions of the wind and due to strong wind gusts. The report is available in Spanish at: CONRED. Severe Weather
On 7 December 2018, media reported heavy rain affecting the following communities: Buchado, La Playa, Loma Murri, villa Nueva, San Alejandro, Padua, and Vuelta Cortada in Vigía del Fuerte Municipality, Antioquia Department due to an overflow of the Murri, Arquía, and Atrato rivers.
