CONTEXT
Since the second half of January 2025, an increasing number of people passing through the Flow Monitoring Points (FMP) have been embarking on the journey back south. During the period from January 20 to February 19, 2025, a total of 6,220 movements were observed transiting through the FMPs in Chiquimula, Izabal, San Marcos, and Petén, of which 2,240 were passing through Guatemala with the aim of returning to their countries of origin or other destination countries. These north-to-south migratory flows accounted for 36 per cent of the total transit flows recorded during this period.
