Guatemala - Earthquakes, update (GDACS, CONRED) (ECHO Daily Flash of 10 July 2025)

  • The seismic activity continues in the area between Escuintla and the Guatemala Department, with three earthquakes (magnitudes 3.4–3.8 M) recorded in the past 24 hours. Additionally, the humanitarian impact has escalated following the 5.7 M earthquake that occurred on 8 July at 21.41 UTC (15.41 hours local time), approximately 17 km north-east of Escuintla city.
  • According to the National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED), as of 10 July at 5.00 UTC, five people died, nine others have been hospitalised, almost 600 have been evacuated and about 2,000 affected. Furthermore, over 300 homes have been damaged.
  • National authorities are providing humanitarian aid and emergency assistance, including shelter, medical care, and supplies, to those impacted by the seismic event.
