Cooperation: Guatemala, beyond the emergency

The newly published “Mas alla de la emergencia/Oltre l’emergenza”, by Annalisa Vandelli, is a thorough overview of the Italian Cooperation’s activities in Guatemala, and was part of the Emergency Programme “Ran Guatemala” funded in 2010 by the Italian Cooperation following devastating rains that crippled the country at the time.

The bilingual (Italian/Spanish) book, launched in July at the Italian Cultural Institute, is a skillful illustration of the excellent work by the Emergency Programme and will enjoy broad distribution in both Guatemala and Italy.

From malnutrition to environmental disasters

Leafing through the book, the reader also becomes aware of a series of additional tragic problems, ranging from malnutrition to environmental disasters, that grip this Latin American nation with the highest child mortality rate and vulnerability to environmental disaster (source: United Nations).
