HIGHLIGHTS
UN agencies with Central Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) resources for the Hurricane Beryl response have started key projects in Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, working closely with local partners. The World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have launched projects to address urgent needs and support recovery efforts in these affected areas.
Two Post-Disaster Needs Assessments (PDNAs) are being conducted in Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and supported by
the European Union (EU), World Bank, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), with technical input from UN
agencies and development partners. These assessments aim to evaluate the damage, losses, and recovery needs from Hurricane Beryl, guiding national recovery plans and resource mobilization for building resilience. Data collection is already underway, with analysis expected by late September and final reports due by the end of October.
INGOs and NGOs have been vital to the humanitarian response. Their work in providing essential resources like water and emergency supplies, as well as infrastructure rehabilitation, has been crucial and will be essential for facilitating recovery efforts.
