1. ARTHUR, SECOND TROPICAL DEPRESSION OF 1990 ATLANTIC SEASON, HIT TOBAGO AND GRENADA 25 JULY WITH WINDS UP TO 45 MPH AND MOVING WEST ACROSS CARIBBEAN SEA. SLOWLY STRENGTHENING.

2. UNDRO DELEGATE (PCDPPP(+) PROJECT MANAGER), BASED ANTIGUA AND MONITORING SITUATION FROM EARLY STAGES, REPORTS FOLLOWING DAMAGE:

TOBAGO

3. A MAJOR BRIDGE ON MAJOR ROAD COLLAPSED. ELECTRICITY AND WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM WIDELY DISRUPTED. SEVERAL LANDSLIDES OCCURRED.

GRENADA

4. NATIONAL DISASTER COORDINATOR REPORTS THAT IMPACT WAS MAINLY IN SOUTH OF ISLAND. TWO MAJOR BRIDGES DAMAGED. WATER, ELECTRICITY AND TELEPHONE SERVICE DISRUPTED. CROPS DAMAGED. FOUR HOTELS AND HUNDREDS HOUSES AFFECTED.

5. PCDPPP CONTINUES TO MONITOR SITUATION.

1. TROPICAL DEPRESSION 'ARTHUR' IS PRESENTLY 250 MILES SOUTH OF PUERTO RICO AND 350 MILES SOUTHEAST OF HISPANIOLA, MOVING WEST NORTHWEST AT 15 MPH WITH MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS OF 70 MPH (APPROACHING HURRICANE STRENGTH). TROPICAL STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THESE ISLANDS.

2. IF ARTHUR CONTINUES ON PRESENT TRACK, IT WILL PASS OVER WESTERN TIP HISPANIOLA, AND JAMAICA WILL ISSUE STORM ALERT.

3. PCDPPP CONTACTING SANTO DOMINGO, HAITI, BAHAMAS, AND TURKS AND CAICOS TO ASCERTAIN AND ENCOURAGE ALERTNESS.
