Greece - Earthquake (GDACS, USGS, University of Athens, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 22 May 2025)

  • On 22 May at 3.16 UTC (22 May at 6.16 local time), an earthquake of 6.1 M occurred in south-eastern Greece. The epicentre was located over the sea approximately 59 km north-northeast of Neapoli Lasithiou, northern Crete island.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 192,000 people were exposed to moderate shaking.
  • According to media, as of 22 May, the earthquake was felt in Egypt, Israel and Türkiye.
  • There are no reports of casualties or damage so far.
