Ongoing violence in the Sahel has precipitated displacement into northern Ghana, which has received more than 15,000 asylum-seekers from Burkina Faso since 2022, 60% of whom are women and girls. Asylum-seekers are residing in informal settlements, host communities, and in the two official reception centers and settlements in Tarikom in Upper East region, and Zini in Upper West region. Plan International Ghana conducted an Adolescent- and Youth-Focused Rapid Gender Analysis (RGAYA) to understand the gender dynamics affecting adolescents and youth in both the host and the asylum-seeker communities and gendered needs across humanitarian sectors. The RGAYA utilized a qualitative methodology, consisting of consultations with adolescent boys and girls in the age groups of 10-14, 15-18, and 19-24, focus group discussions with female and male adult caregivers, as well as key informant interviews with community leaders, service providers, and civil society organizations.
