On April 27, 2007 the meeting of Head of the International Organizations' Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Alexander Nalbandov and the representatives of the OSCE Mission to Georgia, headed by Deputy Chief of the Mission Veselin Nikolaev was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
At the meeting, the Georgian side communicated to the Guests the decision of the Government of Georgia to resume in the nearest future implementation of the unilateral measures aimed at confidence building, strengthening peace and increasing security level in Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia.
As the representatives of the OSCE Mission noted, undoubtedly that this is a positive step and the regret is caused that the Tskhinvali regime doesn't reciprocate the actions of the Georgian side with respective constructive measures. Besides, as it was mentioned by the Guests, this is a direct obligation of the OSCE Mission to observe such processes in the region and it will be done in due course.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed various issues regarding the implementation of the Donor Programme for the economic rehabilitation of the Tskhinvali region. The OSCE representatives provided information with respect to the current state of affairs on this field and ongoing works on the ground.
Besides, the sides considered the new perspectives and possible future joint steps of OSCE-Georgia cooperation on the field of border management. The sides expressed their readiness to remain actively seized by the issue and continue close cooperation.
