Georgia Red Cross Society supported by the International Federation (DREF operation) continues the distribution operation to support people affected by floods in Georgia. Through July, August 2011 GRCS conducted distribution operations to support affected population in Dusheti and Khashuri municipalities. 350 most affected households received two blankets, two mattresses and hygienic parcel.
On September 14, 2011 Georgia Red Cross Society due to effective logistics procedures and left over funds provided support to 108 most affected households of Dusheti Municipality. Each household received hygienic parcel.
Young people from Dusheti together with Red Cross volunteers actively participated in distribution process. Some of them expressed their interest to Red Cross activities.
“I’d like to become Red Cross volunteer and to know more about RC activities - said 25 years old Arsen Merabishvili- I participated in this operation with pleasure as I knew it was to support my people.”
“There are a lot of vulnerable people around us and all of them need support. I wish I could help them as Red Cross does.”- said Tamar Khutsishvili, 36 years old, mother of 3 children.
