Since 11 February, severe weather-related events, including heavy rain and strong winds, have caused widespread flooding in southern France, resulting in casualties and damage.
As of 12 February, media reports confirm one fatality in Landes, two injuries in Tarn-et-Garonne, and one injury on the A9 motorway near Lespignan.
Power outages have affected 850 000 homes across Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie, while schools have been closed and key roads, including major routes in Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales, remain impassable.
Meanwhile, the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMSR866) was activated on the morning of 11 February to monitor floods in the Bordeaux region.
Between 12 and 13 February, further rainfall is forecast nationwide, with Météo-France issuing red alerts for wind in Aude, flood risk in Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne, and avalanche risk in Savoie.
