Water Authority of Fiji

The following is the latest update on Water Authority of Fiji's report on damages and repair works :

NORTH

Workers are removing the debris blockage at Nasealevu intake that is currently reducing the amount of flow into Benau treatment plant. Areas affected are still facing low pressure and intermittent supplies at higher level areas as in Batinikama,Vunivau and Basoga.

WEST

Sigatoka

Many areas are receiving normal water supply though higher areas are experiencing disruptions.

Nadi

No complaints received so far. Water supply is normal in Nadi.

Lautoka

Some parts of Lautoka still facing water disruptions due to damage caused by flood waters at Nalau and Buabua dam. Varaqe intake was also blocked by debris this morning which has reduced the inflow into Saru Treatment Plant. Repair works are underway to restore water supply in the area. Areas that were affected include those along the King's Road from Vunato bridge to Matawalu village, part of Tomuka, Wairabetia, Viseisei Back Rd, Vuda Back Rd, Natabua, Navula, Field 40, Saru Back Rd, Rifle Range and Banaras. Three trucks are carting water to the affected areas.

Ba

There is still no power in the area. Pump stations are down and reservoirs are empty. Trucks are carting water to the affected areas.

Tavua

There is still no power at the treatment plant at Nasivi. Generators were used to run the pumps to fill up the plant and some areas including the hospital are slowly receiving water this morning.

Rakiraki

Power has been restored at Rakiraki last night and residents are slowly receiving water once again, including the hospital and town areas.

Water Authority would like to advice people to save rain water and use it wisely.
