DISMAC is reopening evacuation centres in the Western Division following adverse weather conditions.
Due to the continuous rainfall and as per reports of flooding in low-lying areas in the division, request to those living in low-lying areas prone to flooding and landslides to move to the nearest evacuation centres and to higher grounds as soon as possible and while it is still daylight.
According to the weather bulletin, more rain is expected tonight and this will result in flash-flooding in low lying areas.
Below are flooded areas in the Western Division, mainly Rakiraki and Tavua:
RAKIRAKI
Qalau Rd - 3ft under water and is closed to all traffic Market Rd - 4ft under water and is closed to all traffic (This is Central Rakiraki Town) Rewasa Rd - 4ft under water and is closed to all traffic Kortale Rd - crossing under water FSC Rd - Flooded TAVUA
Koula - road under water and is closed to all traffic Balata - Road underwater and is closed to all traffic. Yaladro flats have been reported to be under two feet of water in some places and the road has been closed to light traffic.
