- COVID 19 -Confirmed: NIUE - (49 cases):
Niue’s Department of Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak with 99 active cases, including 45 new cases this week. Since the outbreak began on January 11, four people have been hospitalized, and 45 have recovered. The Head of Public Health cautions that the actual number of cases may be higher and urges residents to take precautions, get tested if unwell, and wear masks in public, attributing the rise in cases to public gatherings, funerals, and new arrivals. This is Niue’s first major surge since November 2022, when 380 cases were reported. While COVID-19 mandates were lifted in March 2023, the authority advises those infected to isolate and follow preventive measures to curb the spread.
