National Emergency Operation Center: Tropical Cyclone Winston Situation Report 34 of 27/02/2016


This Situation Report provides an update on the current operation by the National Emergency Operation Centre. It covers the period from 1600 hours to 0000hours on 27/02/2016. All updates in this report include input that was received at the NEOC during the shift.

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30pm on Saturday the 27th of February 2016.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

Cloudy periods with some showers for over Lau and Lomaiviti group, the Western parts and interior of larger islands. Elsewhere, isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorm.

  • Moderate east to southeast winds, fresh at times.

  • Moderate to rough seas.


  • Continue to synchronize the input from the Divisions and the essential Agencies to the flow of information from the NEOC to the Future Ops (Planning) Cell and to Macro Economics and AID Coordination Cell, Logistics and the Current Ops Executive Cell

  • Coordination with NEOC RFMF Ops for the monitoring of the deployment of Government efforts to affected areas

  • Strengthen the verification of details on the distribution of rations and statistical feedbacks from divisional EOC’s on the number of families that have received assistance.
