Government remains focused in its efforts to bring about stability and to normalise services and operations to those areas affected by flooding in the country.
Ministry of Provincial Development permanent secretary Mr Inia Seruiratu highlighted this after receiving a donation by the Home Finance Company Limited towards the Prime Ministers Flood Appeal account.
“We are going through difficult times but government remains focused on bringing about immediate stability and that is our priority,” Mr Seruiratu said.
While thanking HFC for the donation of $5,000, Mr Seruiratu added that there were still 25 evacuation centres with about 2,000 people in the Western Division.
The permanent secretary also said that government will continue working on restoring essential services in affected areas.
In addition, to the cheque donation, HFC also launched a special loan scheme, HFC Top Gear Disaster Rehabilitation Facility which is specifically targeted at the business segment of affected communities who can borrow from $10,000 to $50,000 with an interest rate of 4.99 percent.
HFC staff has also contributed over $1,500 in food and clothing which will be distributed by their Lautoka and Nadi branches next week.
