  • Tropical Cyclone Vaianu is a Category 2 system (6 April) located west-northwest of Fiji and forecast to intensify to Category 3. No landfall is expected, but outer rainbands are already affecting the country.
  • Impacts are driven by heavy rainfall rather than wind, with a nationwide heavy rain warning in place. Flash flooding is affecting low-lying and urban areas; rainfall exceeded 120 mm in 24h (Navua). Evacuations have been reported in Central Division.
  • Authorities have implemented preventive measures, including nationwide school closures and transport disruptions. The Anticipatory Action Framework has not been activated.
  • The situation is compounded by recent flooding (TC Urmil), increasing vulnerability. Further flooding is expected over the next 48–72 hours.
