Fiji: Ministry maps out plan for repairs

The Ministry of Transport, Works and Public Utilities has been concentrating on repair works and have organised water trucks to cart water to affected areas whilst the restoration works are being conducted.

Media Liaison Officer, Sainiana Waqainabete confirmed that water engineers from the Ministry of Transport and Works have been deployed late last night and again this morning to try to get the reservoirs in the affected areas operational again.

"We anticipate most of these problem areas to be resolved by the end of today except for Ba where the damages have been extensive and requires another 48 hours before they have normal supply again," Waqainabete said.

Ms Waqainabete has requested the general public to cope with them as they need to normalize the situation first particularly the roads and then allow other technical people from water and extra to move in and sort out the problems that have disrupted.

She has also indicated that water trucks would be carting water around the affected areas while the repair works were being conducted around the country.
