Flood victims sheltering in various evacuation centres in the Western Division were given a surprise visit when members of the business community arrived with food rations.
Members of the Digicel mobile company in the Western Division arrived in a bus at NASA compound in Namaka, Nadi with their donations and presented their gifts to the evacuees.
Digicel team leader,Mr Semi Tikoigau said the company wanted to show their support towards the flood victims.
"This is part of an effort from the Digicel company to give something back because they are part of our customers,"Mr Tikoigau said.
Food items donated by the Digicel company included sugar, candles, washing powder, tea bags, flour and fresh water.
Mr Tikoigau said they had visited evacuees at various evacuation centres such as Saunaka and Sabeto village.
He said they expect to visit other areas in the next few days to assist the evacuees in the Western Division.
During the presentation of food items at NASA in Namaka, the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and his delegation were also in the area and witnessed the contribution from the mobile company.
Meanwhile Commodore Bainimarama took a walk through the streets of Nadi town to view damages sustained during the recent flood.
Mr Bainimarama acknowledged the hard work of the business community as they were also removing debris through the streets of Nadi.
