Dessie, April 28, 2011 (Dessie) - Some 178 million Birr has been earmarked for various activities to be carried out through food security program in South Wollo Zone, Amhara State, the Zonal Food Security and Disaster Prevention Office said. Office Public Relations Head, Haile Ayalew told ENA on Thursday that the budget will be allotted to nearly 738,000 beneficiaries organized safety net and community based activities living in 20 rural woredas of the zone.
He said the farmers will engage in development activities including agriculture, health, education, water, road sectors and small irrigation schemes, among others.
Some 14,000 households have already ensured their food security, he said and adding, effort underway to enable some more 67,000 households.
