Highlights

  • According to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (PHEOC), over 1 million malaria cases and 45 deaths have been reported since January 2025, and the cholera outbreak in Amhara and Gambella has worsened, reaching 1,582 cases and 32 deaths across 16 woredas during the reporting period.
  • UNICEF and partners supported the treatment of nearly 101,000 children with severe wasting across regions.
  • In the reporting period, UNICEF provided access to safe drinking water for over 379,000 people through rehabilitation of existing non-functional water schemes.
  • UNICEF supported nearly 110,000 people through child protection interventions including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), family tracing and reunification and alternative care services for unaccompanied and separated children and prevention and response to violence, including gender-based violence (GBV).
  • UNICEF reached more than 691,000 children and women with primary healthcare services and medical consultations.
  • UNICEF requires US$ 493 million to support the delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance, including supplies, cash, essential services and technical assistance to children, adolescents, and families. As of the end of February 2025, US $56.8 million is available, leaving an 88 per cent funding gap.
