During the week ending October 15th, 2006, moderate rains were received in Hiran and lower Juba regions in Somalia.

The Northern parts of the Ethiopian highlands and parts of Northern and central Somalia received light to moderate rains as indicated in the cumulative 7-day satellite rainfall estimate (RFE) image.
The forecast for next week is calling for moderate to heavy rains in Southern Somalia and light to moderate rains in the lower parts of the Ethiopian highlands. There is minimal risk of riverine flooding during the forecast period, although high levels of soil moisture are expected.
