A group of American health professionals, Doctors Giving Back, has given health services to more than 10,000 needy free of charge in Assosa Town, Benishangul Gumuz State during the last 15 days. Group Field Director, Temesgen Mengesha said the group has also reached agreement with the state Health Bureau to support the health sector. The group comprises 22 members of whom four are doctors. Temesgen also said that the group has given optical treatment and other health services as of now for two weeks. He said the group has provided medical equipment in donation to Assosa Hospital. The group is also planning to build a center to be used for knowledge transfer. Health Bureau Head, Abdulselam Shengel on his part said on the support made by the group will help to achieve the MDGs in the health sector in the region. Some of the beneficiaries on their parts urged the group to give similar services to the public in rural localities as well. Doctors Giving Back is A Non-Profit, Medical Relief Humanitarian group that provides life saving medical care, medicine, vaccines, as well as glasses, clothes and shoes for destitute people living in remote areas of Africa.
