N.Shoa Zone, April 12, 2011 (Debrebirhan) -More than 50,000 farmers living in the surrounding of Debreberhan Town in North Shoa Zone of Amhara State have carried out natural resource conservation activity during the last two months, the town administration said. Public Relations Office Head with the Administration, Adane Abraha said the farmers are undertaking construction and maintenance of terraces and dikes.
The farmers also constructed 2-km flood diverting canals and over 1-km road, Adane said, adding, they dug over 9000 water harvesting wells as part of the natural resource conservation activity.
Government employees and students took part in the development activity, he said.
