To fight the impending famine in Ethiopia, the Federal Foreign Office is making EUR 500,000 from the humanitarian aid budget available to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Following the drought, harvests have
failed and livestock have perished in the Horn of Africa in recent weeks.
According to estimates, up to 14 million people in Ethiopia alone will
be dependent on aid in the coming months. By making available EUR 500,000,
the Federal Foreign Office is helping the ICRC to distribute water, food
and seeds to farmers in the Tigray and Oromia areas who have been particularly
badly hit.
