National Needs Assessment Update

The multi-agency, multi-sectoral meher seasonal needs assessment is progressing in all regions covered, including Afar, Amhara, Beneshangul Gumuz, Gambella, Oromia, SNNP, Somali and Tigray. The assessment covers areas that received kiremt (June to September) rains, as well as agro-pastoralist areas in the eastern and southern lowlands that received karma/karan (July to September) or deyr/hagaya (October to December) rains. The field assessment is expected to end on 13 December, with regional debriefings scheduled for 14 December in all areas. A subsequent federal level debriefing will be organized subsequently. The results of the assessment will inform the 2013 Humanitarian Requirements Document (January-June), which is expected to be issued in early 2013. For more information, contact
