ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (PANA) - Ethiopia
is soon to undertake a four-month survey of children's birth and mortality
rates in selected areas of the country, according to the Central Statistics
Authority.
The study is aimed at inspecting closely
and implementing the programme to improve the nutrition and health of the
public at large, the authority said in a statement.
"The survey would help identify, among others, the total population of the country as well as health, nutrition and marital status," it added.
The United Nations Children's Fund will provide assistance during the survey.
Similar studies have been undertaken in some 80 other developing countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia.
