- Last week, new attacks in Blue Nile State in Sudan pushed civilians to flee, some of them (exact number still unclear) seeking refuge in Ethiopia.
- However, it is estimated that between 200 and 400 Sudanese civilians were reportedly denied access to Ethiopian territory, where new registrations of asylum seekers have been suspended for several months at Kurmuk entry point (Benishangul-Gumuz region) and since September 2024 in Metema (Amhara region).
- While almost 50 000 Sudanese have been recorded as crossing the border since 2023, only slightly over 23 000 have been fully registered as refugees and hosted in new settlements.
- Humanitarian partners remain mobilised to provide assistance to new arrivals, once they have been granted access to the territory in accordance with international, regional, and domestic law.
