It serves as a tragic reminder to the international community, on the day of the Security Council's open session on the protection of United Nations and associated personnel, of the urgent need to safeguard the lives of those whose commitment is to provide humanitarian assistance wherever needed. I trust that all measures will be taken to ensure that those responsible will quickly be brought to justice.
