News No. 05/65
Nearly 2,000 families in and around
the town of Harodibe in south-east Ethiopia's Guradamole have just received
ICRC aid, following a similar operation in mid-April. The ICRC supplied
both displaced persons and residents of the area with maize, beans and
oil, guaranteeing food security for another month in this drought-stricken
part of Ethiopia.
In addition to food, each of these traditional farming families received 15 kilos of seed, so they could start sowing in time for the next growing season.
The ICRC has been in Ethiopia since 1997, offering civilians independent, neutral and impartial assistance in accordance with its mandate.
