Overview
Despite very limited resources, volatile security situations, and access constraints, cluster partners have continued to provide ES/NFI assistance to areas of Somali, Oromia, SNNP, Benishangul Gumz, and Gambela regions afflicted by conflict and climate-induced crises. But as of the end of June, 14 active partners in these regions have reached only 11% of its 1.9M target population plus committed to 4% more through ongoing activ-ities and items in stock, leaving a gap of 85% (1.6M people) to reach in the second half of 2023.
For the month of June, three partners in the Somali region reported having provided ESNFI in-Kind to IDPs in Magala and Erer IDP sites in the conflict-affected Siti zone, to IDPs out of site in four drought-affected woredas (Kebridehar in Korahe zone and Adadle, Kelafo, and Berocano in Shabelle zone) and to two flood-affected woredas (Babile in Fafan zone and Dolo Ado in the Liban zone).
In Western Oromia, several partners reported completing ESNFI activities in June. One partner provided ESNFI in-Kind to returning IDPs in the conflict-affected woredas of Suro Berguda and Dugda Dawa in West Guji and another partner provided Emergency Shelter Construction to members of Host communities in Bule Hora, also in West Guji. Another partner provided NFI in-Kind to IDPs out of site in Nejo woreda of West Wellega zone. One partner is providing Cash for Rent to IDPs out of site in Gida Ayana in the East Wellega zone and another has plans to provide ESNFI in-Kind to conflict-affected IDPs in Wadera, Saba Boru, and Gora Dola woredas of the Guji zone.
In SNNP, one partner provided Emergency Shelter Construction to members of host communities in Yirgafeche and to Returning IDPs in Gedeb, both in the conflict-afflicted Gedeo zone. Another partner provided ES kits to flood-affected IDPs in site in Uba Debre Tsehay in the Gofa zone.
For BGR and Gambela , no completed activities were reported for June but four partners have report-ed ongoing ESNFI activities for returning IDPs in the four conflict-affected woredas (Guba, Dibate,
Pawe, & Bulen) of Metekel zone of BGR.
