  • Armed conflict and insecurity in northern Ethiopia’s Amhara Region continue to harm civilians and humanitarian personnel and disrupt assistance deliveries to populations in need. As of September 29, security incidents had resulted in at least seven humanitarian staff deaths in the region during 2024.

  • Following the peak of the lean season in August, the beginning of the meher harvest in September will likely alleviate acute food insecurity for some households in Ethiopia

  • In addition to ongoing cholera outbreaks in several regions as of late September, a surge in malaria cases likewise exacerbated health needs.
