Situation Overview

  • In Ethiopia, Cholera outbreak has occurred in 10 woredas (8 in Oromia region and 2 in Somali region).
  • All woredas in both regions are neighboring each other & 66 kebeles are affected.
  • Cumulative case is 1083 with 28 deaths (CFR = 2.59%) from 10 affected woredas.
  • New case in the past week: 9 (Girja woreda). No new death.
  • 14 CTCs have been established in Oromia/ORM (10) & Somali/SML (4) regions.
  • Water coverage in cholera affected woredas is sub-optimal. 802 (83.89%) cholera patients used river water.
  • A cholera outbreak in Mandera, Kenya, requires close attention. As of 6/2/2022 5 suspected cases were identified in Dolo Ado, adjacent to Mandera.
