The Opportunities Industrialization Centers Ethiopia (OIC Ethiopia) has graduated more than 500 refugees trained in various Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) fields.
More than 95 per cent of the graduates were Eritreans while Yemenis and South Sudanese also made part of the graduating migrants.
The graduates received trainings in electrical installation, auto mechanics, computer, tailoring and hair dressing fields.
The Center partnered with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in offering the TVET trainings.
The graduates expressed gratitude to the government of Ethiopia for facilitating the training opportunity which they said brightened their future.
Deputy Director of Administration for Refugees and Returnee Affairs (ARRA) Zeynu Jemal said apart from being a sanctuary to refugees, Ethiopia avails basic facilities to refugees including shelter, food, education, health and other services.
According to Iris Blom, Senior Protection Officer of UNHCR and Representative in Ethiopia, the training will enable refugees to be productive citizens once they return to their home country.
Appreciating Ethiopia for its open door policy, the representative said UNHCR is closely assisting education of refugees in Ethiopia.
UNHCR in partnership with local institutions trained more than five thousand Ethiopia based refugees in different fields of TVET.
