Since January 2024, anticipatory action has helped 4.7 million people across 10 countries with assistance ahead of emerging crises such as floods, drought, conflict, disease outbreaks and pests. The countries with the highest reach are Ethiopia, Somalia, and South Sudan. A total of USD 53.3 million was disbursed through coordinated efforts of 62 organizations across 11 sectors.

In Eastern Africa, humanitarian actors have been leveraging predictive risk analytics, pre-arranged financing and pre-agreed activities to act ahead of crises. Supported activities include providing cash, disseminating early warning messages, pre-positioning critical supplies in at-risk areas, strengthening shelters, repairing flood barriers, distributing drought-resistant seeds and others.
