Operational Updates
Home-Grown School Feeding
- WFP launched the second cycle of its Home- Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiative, focused on provision of eggs and vegetables. This effort is being carried out in collaboration with vendors from the Eswatini National Agriculture Union, the National Agriculture Marketing Board, and Kitale.
- In November 2024, the eggs and vegetables program significantly improved the nutritional intake of 24,200 school children while supporting 670 local smallholder farmers, including 410 women. This initiative prioritizes empowerment and sustainable income generation for the farmers, fostering long-term community development. Some of the smallholder farmers beneficiaries were trained by WFP and partners to emerge into the commercial market.
Children Social Food Safety Net
- In November, the WFP provided support to 8,840 orphaned and vulnerable children (OVCs) in 235 neighborhood care points (NCPs) located in the Hhohho and Manzini regions of Eswatini.
