Mendefera, 12 January 2012 – Village health representatives and physicians are making due contribution in preventing malaria incidents and TB as well as ensuring mother and child care.
At a meeting conducted in Mendefera town, it was assessed that mother and child mortality rate declined last year. However, endeavors to prevent malaria, TB and infection of respiration system have not reached the desired level. In this respect, the need to conduct extensive campaign was emphasized.
The participants adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations, including the need to deploy ambulance in remote areas.
The Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, said that there are plans to upgrade the capacity of the health institutions across the nation in terms of skilled manpower, equipment, drug supply and the like.
