Eritrea: Potable water supply project implemented in Tessenei sub-zone

Tessenei, 8 June 2010- The implementation of a potable water supply project in Mekeserat administrative area, Tessenei sub-zone, has been finalized and already began rendering service.

Lt. Colonel Tekie Woldu, coordinator of the project from the central government garage in Gash-Barka region, pointed out that the project involves the digging of well in Gash River so that it may serve as reliable source of water and the installation of 14 Km.-long water pipelines.

Besides, a water tanker with the capacity of holding 330 cubic meters of water has been put in place along with 6 water distribution stations with 8 tap waters each.

Lt. Colonel Tekie further indicated that staff members of the government garage in the region took active participation in the implementation of the project.

In accordance with the plan mapped out to relocate the 1,800 families of Mekeserat administrative area to a convenient site. Concerted action is being taken to put in place the necessary social service facilities according to the sub-zonal administration.
