Eritrea: Potable water supply project implemented in Metite administrative area

Nacfa, 5 February 2010 - The implementation of potable water supply project in Metite administrative area, Nacfa sub-zone, at a cost of 1.5 million Nakfa has been finalized.

The project involves the installation of 702 meter-long water pipelines, construction of a pond with a capacity of holding about 155 barrels of water, putting in place of solar energy-generating device, as well as the construction of 2 water distribution stations and other facilities.

The head of infrastructure development in the Northern Red Sea region, Mr. Mussie Misgina, who inaugurated the project, explained that the implementation of the facility is in line with endeavors towards improving the people's standard of living, especially those in remote areas.

Reports indicated that previously the local inhabitants used to travel long distance to fetch water that was not up to standard, and as a result their health used to be negatively affected.

Metite administrative area with a population of over 3,000 is located 11 Km. North-west of Nacfa town.
