Eritrea: Land leveling scheme in Asmat sub-zone vital for reinforcing efforts to achieve food security
A number of farmers who used to be deprived of land ownership have now become beneficiaries of the land leveling scheme that would enable them to improve their standard of living through actively engaging in farming activities.
Noting that a number of micro-dams and water reservoirs are under construction in different parts of the sub-zone in a bid to raise productivity and boost agricultural output, Mr. Abubaker pointed out that various social services have been expanded in the sub-zone as a result of the regrouping of the people in one community. He also highlighted the need for constructing additional health centers taking into account the size and landscape of the sub-zone.
Asmat sub-zone with a population of over 32,000 comprises 8 administrative areas.
