Eritrea: IDPs currently undergoing rehabilitation in Southern region leading better standard of living, says Administrator

Mendefera, 16 December 2009 - The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, said that displaced families following the TPLF regime's war of aggression and currently being rehabilitated and those relocated from higher areas are leading a better standard of living thanks to the support being extended by the regional Administration and partners.

In the course of a visit to the displaced nationals, he asserted that the families have already become beneficiaries of various social services, and that they are leading an improved standard of living.

Mr. Mustafa pointed out that in line with efforts being made jointly by the Government and partners, various types of assistance, including financial, agricultural tools, cattle and others have been extended to the families. Parallel with this, potable water supply, education and health services have been put in place, he added. The Administrator went on to say that the necessary construction materials and money have been provided to the families for the construction of residential houses.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Government's support which enabled them to lead improved standard of living.
