Eritrea: Dubarwa town - 19 million Nakfa water supply project finalized

Dubarwa, 16 February 2006 - A 3-year water supply project at a cost of 19 million Nakfa has been finalized in Dubarwa town. As a result 110 households and 200 others will become beneficiaries of the project that comprises 3 new micro-dams and 2 old ones, a 500 cubic meter water tanker, 8 distribution centers, 3 of which are new, water tank vehicles station as well as 16 km.-long pipelines. The project is expected to give efficient service for 10 years.

Village elders, religious leaders, and inhabitants of the area expressed their happiness and commended the government's effort. Moreover, the Administrator of Dubarwa town, Mr. Andemariam Mehretab, praised those who took part in the undertaking. He further said that two more micro-dams have been built and 5 wells dug.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony yesterday, the Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, congratulated the inhabitants on their new facility and said that both the people and the administrative bodies should take good care of it.

The African Development Bank provided the funds, while the Eritrean Community Development Fund was the implementing agent.
