Lidia Castillo, director of the Center of Protection for Disasters (CEPRODE) said, "We trust that with this law there can be management with a vision of risk, and that at the same time generate development projects in the communities, based on the mitigation of the risks."
The other topic covered at the meeting was the construction of the first virtual library on disasters and health in El Salvador. Among the strategic objectives are to gather, organise, preserve and spread national and regional bibliographical information in Latin America and the Caribbean.
For Nelson Chavez, World Viison PER Coordinator, the endeavour made by the Risk Management Network is very important. "With this endeavour, the Network will contribute to the public discussion on prevention and mitigation of risks."
Fifteen representatives from different non-government organisations attended the meeting, including the Pan-American Office for Health (OPS), the Protection for Disasters Center (CEPRODE), Salvadoran Red Cross, the National System of Territorial Studies (SENT), Handicap International, Salvador Foundation for Integral Support (FUSAI) and World Vision El Salvador.
