In close collaboration with the National
Civil Defence Committee, WFP continues to assist families affected by rains,
floods and mudslides, in the centre, southern and Amazonian provinces.
New mud slices have taken place in Napo and Loja provinces but no casualties
have been reported.
Based on a Civil Defense assessment that was assisted by WFP, the most affected families are receiving rice, dry beans, salt, sugar and oil. To date 18,580 family food rations have been delivered. Each ration is for a seven-day period. WFP is also assisting 307 families who lost their homes with non-food items such as kitchen utensils.
WFP staff is closely working with Civil Defense Committees in the affected provinces, monitoring food delivery and requirements. In the coming weeks, the Orellana, Pastaza, Napo, Zamora y Morona, provinces will be visited.
