On 10 July, a landslide of approximately 600,000 m³ occurred near the capital of Ecuador Quito, and severely damaged the La Mica–Quito Sur pipeline, which supplies drinking water to several parishes in the Metropolitan District of Quito.

According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the landslide caused a 350 m rupture in the pipeline, resulting in the suspension of water supply in the parishes of Guamaní, La Ecuatoriana, Chillogallo, Quitumbe, La Argelia, and Turubamba, and affecting approximately 88,707 families.

National and local authorities declared an emergency in the affected parishes. Operations to remove debris and repair the pipeline are underway, while emergency assistance is being provided.
