WFP provided four high-precision drones to the National Emergency Commission and Civil Defense (CNE by its acronym in Spanish) as part of its effort to strengthen the country’s disaster management capacity. WFP will continue to collaborate with the CNE to provide risk analyses and humanitarian transport services. During the Hurricane Fiona response in 2022, the drone technology assisted in assessing the impact magnitude and identifying relief operation requirements.

WFP provided capacity strengthening to its cooperating partners carrying out nutritional counseling training to 33 staff (counselors). Furthermore, WFP developed a catalog of smart menus through local consultation to strengthen food and nutrition security, with the aim to complement the multi-purpose cash-based transfer assistance by encouraging healthy cooking, using easily obtainable ingredients and improving local eating practices in the intervention areas.

WFP provided capacity strengthening to the Government through its participation in a virtual global conference session called "From Rain Gauges to Probabilistic Forecasts - Climate Services Capacity Strengthening at Different Levels in LAC." During the conference, WFP shared information and experience aimed at improving the national climate service and linking climate information to local-level preparedness.

WFP engaged in a series of internal workshops and consultations with counterparts to define the priority intervention areas and objectives for the new Country Strategic Plan 2024-2028. WFP will continue to refine the overall vision and lines of work through stakeholder validations and internal revisions.
