A TROPICAL STORM WARNING AND A HURRICANE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR JAMAICA. THESE MAY BE LOWERED LATER TODAY.

A HURRICANE WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH COAST OF HAITI. AT NOON EST..1700Z....THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC WILL ISSUE A HURRICANE WATCH FOR THE SOUTH COAST OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC FROM PERDENALES TO CABO ENGANO. A HURRICANE WATCH MAY BE REQUIRED FOR PUERTO RICO AND THE VIRGIN ISLANDS LATER TODAY.

AT 10 AM EST...1500Z...THE CENTER OF HURRICANE LENNY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 15.0 NORTH...LONGITUDE 76.2 WEST OR ABOUT 205 MILES ...330 KM...SOUTH OF KINGSTON JAMAICA.

LENNY IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST SOUTHEAST NEAR 10 MPH ...17 KM/HR... AND A MOSTLY EASTWARD MOTION IS EXPECTED FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 100 MPH...160 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 25 MILES... 35 KM... FROM THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES...140 KM.

ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 971 MB...28.67 INCHES.

RAINFALL TOTALS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES ARE LIKELY ALONG THE PATH OF THE HURRICANE. MOST OF THE SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IS OVER WATER AT THIS TIME BUT COULD SPREAD ACROSS SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF HISPANIOLA LATER TODAY.
